FAQ

Here is a list of commonly asked questions about the design process for custom Texas-made furniture, fine art services, and sculpture fabrication. Still have questions? Please contact me for more information or to set up an initial consultation for your unique residential or business furniture project.

What are the steps involved in a custom Texas-made furniture design for your commercial or residential project?

The first step towards a custom-designed furniture project is for us to discuss your goals and vision for your unique piece. This can occur in person, on the phone, or via video chat. Once I understand the broad strokes of the project, I will present a proposal that will include a budget and an estimated completion time. Next is the design phase. I will typically present a first draft design concept(s), leading to follow-up designs and, ultimately, a concept we all approve for production. Read more about the design process here

How long does it take to complete a custom project?

This is the point at which I work hard to manage expectations. Every project is hand-made by me and a small cadre of artisans, and raw materials are sourced (locally from Austin or elsewhere in Texas, when possible) and purchased upon approval of a commission. Thus, a typical commission may take 6-10 weeks after a proposal is accepted. However, this timeline may vary due to my own production schedule, the scope of the project and my current workload.

How much does it cost to have a custom furniture or sculptural piece made?

My most common response is, “I don’t know, but I can provide you with a proposal in a few days.” Custom furniture and sculptural work varies by detail and material costs, but I always attempt to tailor a project to a specific budget when possible.

What kind of custom furniture, sculptures and displays can you make?

In addition to offering hand-crafted furniture, I also provide fine art services, including custom framing, mount-making, custom sculptural services for artists and designers, and museum-quality display cabinets. I do work for commercial and residential customers, as well as architects and interior designers.

What is the payment process and what types of payments do you accept?

I accept personal checks, cash, Venmo and Paypal. Credit cards are accepted but incur a 3.5% service fee.
