What are the steps involved in custom design?
The first step towards a custom project is for us to discuss your goals and vision for this project. This can occur in person, on the phone, or via video chat. Once I understand the broad strokes of the project, I will present a proposal that will include a budget and an estimated completion time. Next is the design phase. I will typically present a first draft design concept(s), leading to follow-up designs and, ultimately, a concept we all approve for production.
How long does it take to complete a custom project?
This is the point at which I work hard to manage expectations. Every project is hand-made by me and a small cadre of artisans, and raw materials are sourced and purchased upon approval of a commission. Thus, a typical commission may take 6-10 weeks after a proposal is accepted. However, this timeline may vary due to my own production schedule and my current workload.
How much does it cost to have a custom piece made?
My most common response is, “I don’t know, but I can provide you with a proposal in a few days.” Custom work varies by detail and material costs, but I always attempt to tailor a project to a specific budget when possible.
What kind of furniture, sculptures and displays can you make?
In addition to offering hand-crafted furniture, I also provide fine art services, including custom framing, mount-making, custom sculptural services for artists and designers, and museum-quality display cabinets.
What is the payment process and what types of payments do you accept?
I accept personal checks, cash, Venmo and Paypal. Credit cards are accepted but incur a 3.5% service fee.
